TABLE RESERVATIONS

The Table Reservations product (also referred to as app) was worked on as a complete re-write (or replacement) of the older version of what was called 'Wix Reservation'. This new version will allow restaurants to manage their table's availability and allow their customers to book a table online.

 

What is different?

The new app includes new capabilities:

- Table management system

- Reservations list filtered by day 

- Table turnover time settings and pacing controls

- Ability to add reservations manually from the back office

- Ability to edit reservations from back office

- Ability to edit UoU emails via automations (built with Wix's automations self service trigger product)

- Integrated with the Wix's CRM

When working on this product, we split it into 5 main sections for the dashboard (business manager) to easily be able to focus on one part at a time - this was a big product. The sections were the Table Reservations management page and then - under Settings - Table management, Online reservations, Reservation form & notifications. We also worked on the UoU side as well as the settings in the Wix Editor.

Fortunately we had an incredible team working on this so when it came to design, text, dev and PM, there was constant communication and openness to feedback on each and every part from everyone. 

​

It's important to note, A LOT of user interviews and feedback sessions were conducted before and continue to be held during the products release in each phase. The feedback received has been super interesting as we are able to see how the changes to this product are helping our users and can also see where we need to continue to improve. The initial launch of this product has been used at the Wix Campus in Israel for their on ground restaurants to seat employees. Employees make reservations through the Wix Owner app or online for the different restaurants available.

The most recent additional features for this product:

 

Export csv:

Ability to export reservation list as csv file - lifetime or specific dates.

• Feature parity with old app, will allow us to sunset old app faster.

• Users use it as a backup in case wix is down/no internet connection or no battery.

​

Table combinations:

Restaurants can define which tables the system can combine and let the restaurant manager/host assign manually a reservation to multiple tables.

• Maximize seating - users are missing out reservations sync the system is limited to single tables only.

​

Toggle off tables:

Restaurants can mark certain tables as unavailable for online reservations.

• Allow restaurants to save tables for walk-ins and still manage it in the app.

• Allow restaurants to save big tables for phone reservations only
